Motorcycle Repair: Charging system, volt meter, ohm meter

My 2001 FLHTC-UI has just stopped charging.  I was able to get home, but it was running poorly.  I checked fuses and they appeared okay.  Where do I check next and how?

First, check at the battery and see what voltage your aare getting with a volt meter. run the bike at around 2000rpm to test. You should be getting around 13.5 volts.
If not then check your battery to make sure it isnt dry or bad.
If it is ok then you need to test the stator. You will need a OHm meter and a AC volt meter. Do you have these?
