Motorcycle Repair: Throttle cable replacement, cable replacement, throttle cable

Question
2004 1200cc custom HD sportster. How do I replace my broken throttle cable? Thank you for your time!

Answer
The housing where the cable are going in has to be removed. It has two screws in it. Under it you wilol see the cables attached to the grip. Remove the one you want to replace. The cable are pressed in the housing, so you have to pry it out. When installing the new one you will need a new clip. Press it in and connect the cable to the grip. Close the housing and attach the cable to the carb. You might have to pull the carb out a little to get the cable on. Once the cable is attached go to the adjuster ont he cable and adjust it so you have just a slight amount of freeplay in it. Tighten the locknut on the adjuster and you are good to go
Good luck and happy riding
