Motorcycle Repair: Jap import(vtz250) mc15(87/88), mail addy, mail reply

hi mark.
         i am hoping you can help me. I was given a honda vtz250, lovely little bike but she wont spark!i have bought 2 new coils(MP06)a knew starter solenoid(because i broke the original)the bike turns over nicely, Oh, also new battery (YB9-B)ht leads are fine. anyway mechanicaly it is sound, i know it is electrical, i tested all the connections within the wireing harness, (but im not to clever with electric, ive tried to download as much info on this bike as i can, but i havent been overly succesfull.I am getting at a loss, it could be the rectifier or the cdi unit but it is near impossible for me to source these two items, i dont know what other honda models cdi or regulator/rectifier would slot into this VTZ250everything is sound on this bike except for the no spark. now here are a few things that seemed odd to me when testing the wires. the red/white wires when touched with the positive of the multimeter and with the negative on the green i got a reading of 12.3v with the ignition on off?also when i touch the positive on the end of the spark plug and touch the frame with the negative i get a small reading of about 1.2v also nothing comes out of the yellow wires from the rectifier when i turn it over. what is going on here mark!, please help me all you can with your infinate wisdom. many thx
