Motorcycle Repair: 2004 suzuki eiger, suzuki eiger, slow trickle

Question
Hi Mitch battery was new this summer which doesent mean anything i guess but it is sealed I  cant test it Im getting about 14 volts at the battery when its running but if i check it without the battery in it, its only about 2 to 3 volts. I checked it with an amp meter with the negative wire off to see if   there was a parasitic drin and it read 0 I think i might take it back to where i got it and see if they can test it with a load on it. Ill let you know whats going on Thanks

I have a 2004 lt-a400/f suzuki eiger quad that the battery goes dead while sitting maybe a week how do i check the charging system or do you think something else is the problem Thanks

hey dave,

battery goingh dead try giving it a slow trickle charge overnight .then get a volt meter crank the bike and hook up the volt meter to the battery to see what type of voltage u r getting. or you may also want to buy a battery tester ,the one that you dip in each cell cap. it will tell you which cell is weak.i would say a faulty switch or an open circuit but i doubt it. hope this helpd u . if you need more help im here working at my cycle shop at this minute o.k.P.S please dont forget to leave feed-back 0n my help and answer o.k. you can also nominate if you feel so .thanks hang in there i will getr you straight ok dude.

hhy dave,
with the battery in you are getting more voltage cause the battery has some juice thats a false reading when the battery is out you should get at least 12.5 volt to keep battery charged  o.k. evidently the cahrging system is bad . let me know o.k
