-----Question-----
I HAD A BOLT ON THE FRONT CYLINDER THAT GOES DOWN TO THE BLOCK(STUD)I WAS TOLD THE BIKE HAD ENGINE WORK AND PROBABLY OVER TIGHTENED CAUSED IT TO POPOUT.HAD IT REPAIRED, NOW IT SEEMS THE CYLINDER THEY WORKED ON IS BURNING OIL(SMOKE)OUT THE EXHAUST,IS IT POSSIBLE WHEN REPAIRING THEY CAUSED THIS PROBLEM.IT DID NOT SMOKE AT ALL BEFORE?THANK YOU STEVE 954-806-9783
-----Answer-----
When they replaced the bolt did they mic the cylinder, hone it and replace the rings?
Mike
-----Answer-----
Anytime a cylinder is pulled it should be inspected. It should be checked to make sure it is still in tolerance. If not a new piston must be installed. If it is sill in tolerance it should be re-crosshatched and new rings installed or you will get smoking.
Just being curious, how did they repair the pulled bolt?
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
-----Answer-----
the bolts in question do not have to be removed to do the top end. They are studs that are in the cases
Mike

Answer
You and I are talking about two different things. There are studs in the case which bolts go to. If they had to put in inserts, then it was the studs that pulled, not the nuts. If a nut comes looses it from either not being torqued right or the stud has pulled. When you do the top end the bolts are removed, not the studs. You can redo the top end and reuse the nuts without a problem. New gaskets have to be put in however and the nuts have to be retorqued
Good luck and happy riding
