Question -
I just bought a 1980 Lowrider. Kick start only, with a new crane hi-4 single fire electronic ignition and new crane single fire coil. I have been told that this is not a good set up to use with a kick only bike and that I should probably go back to points. It is a BEAR to start(3 run thrus, turn on and kick) and most of the time I have to repeat a lot. Runs great once started, needs a little carb cleaning. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks Tom

What do you have your plugs gapped at? Do you hae the ignition set on kick only?

Answer
Look on the side of the ignition. You will see two switches. One os for kick and elect start. If you are kick starting it put it on kick. The other is for VOES. If you are running a VOES then put it on there. If not the switch it.
You should have your plugs gapped at .040 Also, make sure your timing is set right.
