QuestionI'm having some customizing done on my 2005 v-star 1100 custom.The guy i'm having do it wants to spread the frame to put on a larger rear tire. Is this safe,will it change the trail,or am I being feed a bill of goods.
AnswerHi Dave,
The work as described can be done safely. Depending upon the work performed, it may be necesary to add additional bracing to the frame to accomodate the wider wheel assy. and swingarm.
I suspect the person performing the fabrication and frame modifications knows what he or she is doing.
Check for references and investigate the shop's work before committing to the work.
Trail will not be affected by the custom work.
I would enjoy seeing the finished product.
