Motorcycle Repair: Oil on my pant legs when I ride, pant legs, ball spring

Mike,
I've read your comments about the blow by oil in the air filter & re-routing the hose to the bottom of the bike.  I've also read about the oil pump ball & spring.
My 76 Shovelhead leaks oil out the air filter to the point that when riding, it gets on my jeans.
Should I simply re-route the blow by hose to the bottom, or is this amount of leakage due to a bigger problem?

Sorry I didnt answer you sooner. My hard drive went south!
Check to make sure that is where the oil is coming from. If it is I would remove the hose from the back of the air cleaner and reroute it to the bottom of the bike.
The oil pump ball and spring keeps the oil from running into the bottom of the motor when the bike isnt running.
