Motorcycle Repair: Computer use for exhaust chnage out, stock muffler, harley dealer

Hi Mike,

I have a 06 Deluxe and wish to change out the stock muffler to a screaming eagle muffler.  
I understand I have to change the air filter and will have to use a computer to calibrate the fuel mix. The question being do I have to use a Haley computer our can I use anther brand, which is less expensive? Better still is their, an outlet where I could rent the unit for the day rather than shelling out the $450.00 buck for the computer.

If you change your exhaust you do not have to install the high flow air filter. It just makes the bike breath better.
I dont know of anyone that rents the computer and software. Its pretty expensive. However, you dont have to use a harley one. I use another brand. Unless you are a Harley dealer harley will not sell the software to you. Also, the aftermarket ones are less expensive. I usually charge 350.00 to make the changes to the computer
