Motorcycle Repair: 1998 hardtail custom, harley service, stock harley

Question
Okay i have a few questions all pertaining to this bike i just bought, its a 1998 hardtail santee frame with a 1340cc harley motor in it that is pretty fresh(was a efi motor but builder converted to carb) im having to get it inspected to apply for a title and it does not have front turn signals, only the left rear turn signal works, the right one does not, there is no horn at all, and only the rear brake light comes on from the back brake, should i just rewire this thing before I bring it in for inspection? also what would be a good book for working on this bike? also how do you run a motor serial number check? or as long as the serial number is on the motor the inspectors will usually not care...? thanks for all the help! p.s. i live in phoenix, arizona B.R.

Answer
You can probably run the additional wires you need without rewiring the whole bike. You can get a general idea on the wiring from a harley service manual. the problem is if the bike was custom wired the wire color might not be the same as stock harley.
You can run the serial number through the DMV in your state,or if they cant they can tell you how. As to whether they will care, you would have to check with your state on that one.
Good luck and happy riding
