Question -
I have been working on this XR70 and I just got done putting new rings on the piston and got the bike back together but can't seem to find the markings or anything I need to know on how to set the timing on this bike please help would be very appreciative.

Answer -
Tim,

I apologize for the delay.  I have the service manual for this bike at another location and wanted to check it - I will check it tonight.

In the meantime, you should have marks on the chain/head that all line up..  I assume you mean valve timing, not ignition?

Follow up:  ok Tim, this is how you set the valve timing.

1) rotate the flywheel so the T mark on the flywheel aligns with the index notch in the crankcase
2) Rotate the camshaft sprocket is the O on the sprocket aligns with the index notch on the cylinder head..it may be necessary to reposition the sprocket on the cam chain.  tighten sprocket bolts to 80lbs

Answer
While you have the head off, rotate the flywheel until the piston is at or close to TDC, the mark should be at 12:00 on the flywheel, unless it's an aftermarket flywheel or has been shaved, in that case you can try and eyeball TDC by the position of the piston.
