Motorcycle Repair: Main Fuse on 85 Suzuki GS550L, suzuki gs550l, gs series

Question
Suzuki GS550L, My main fuse started blowing repeadily, checked all conections, found a few loose but nothing major or arcing.  After sitting for a week my battery was low, I pushed started the bike and with in a mile the battery was dead.  After replacing the battery, I began testing for the short and found that the fuse only blows after reving the engine.  I think that it could possibly be a bad staiter and that is why the battery died after a mile but dont know how to test it or if that could even be a factor in this problem.  Have blown about 30 fuses testing every wire connection for a short and cant get any wire to short out the fuse, only happens when engine is reved hard.
