Motorcycle Repair: XT550 CARB PROB, needle jet, riding bike

I GOT A 1982 XT550 CARB PROB THE BIKE WILL START FINE AND IDLE FINE BUT WILL START TO BOG AT HALF THROTLE?

I don't really have enough to go on here.  On a bike that old, this can be so many things.
If it is a jetting problem, assuming all else on bike is fine, it shouldn't be too bad.

Here is your attack plan:
1) Replace spark plug
2) Remove, disassemble, and clean carb - including all jets, replace gaskets in carb, check float level.
3) Inspect choke assembly and make sure operating correctly.
4) Retry riding bike, if it is still bogging, move on to jetting.  It sounds like you're a little rich on the needle.. try moving the needle jet down one (moving the clip up).
