Motorcycle Repair: Brake Lights Not Working, black knobs, running light

Hi Mike,

I read questions about the Brake lights in your section.  I saw that both filaments were on and the button was compressed. I recently changed the black knobs to chrome, so I hand to readjust the spacer inside and it corrected the problem.

Now the side plate has a Red, Black and a blue wire.  The Back off has a Red wire and a white and red wire.

On your side plate. the black is generally the ground. red is probably brake light and blue is probably running light. You cant connect the red tot he black. that will short it out. reconnect the wires the way they were and replace the fuse.
Follow the directions on the backoff light and you should be fine. I donthave a wiring diagram to follow for installation of the light
