Motorcycle Repair: Electrical roblem, honda goldwing gl, 1986 honda goldwing

I have a 1986 Honda Goldwing GL 1200 Interstate motorcycle. After riding for about 5 or 10 minutes the motorm cuts off. When it happened the last time, I removed one spark plug wire and put a spare spark plug in the wire. I laid the spark plug on the metal engine and tried to start the engine. There was no spark at the plug end. After about ten minutes, I tried to start the engine and it started. This has happened a couple of times. Can you suggest how to find the problem and what may be the cause of the problem?

Hmmm, weird problem.  Unless u have a bad coil I don't know what 2 suggest without knowing whether the bike is fuel injected or carbed. Still with that knowledge it will b hard, but I'll try.  I'll save a time glich here and go ahead and ask, Can u hear the fuel pump activate?  Of course this only applies if it's a fuel inj. bike.
