Motorcycle Repair: Yamaha quad has lost spark, using a multimeter, ivory soap

Question
Subject 1986 Yamaha YFM225S fourwheeler.  Quit the other day lost spark.  Using a multimeter the following was checked.  Kill switch and key switch functions, all connecters for corrosion, cleaned all grounds, checked two fuses, battery fully charged, ohm'd the generator leads, turned motor over and got 82 VAC coming from stator/generator, high tension coil ohm'd from cap to ground (is open), ohm'd secondary coil and was within spec.  Now we are going to look for a used CDI box.  What else could or should we do to get spark?  Any help will be appreciated greatly, thanks.  Bruce

Answer
Wow, u sound like u know your stuff.  Hmmm, sounds like a secondary ignition issue which would include:  Points, or electronic distribution, bad coil, bad wires.  Did u OHM your wires?  U should get 1000 per foot of wire.  Example:  a 1.5 foot wire should get 1500 Ohms.  Let me know what u find!  Oh, was there any kind of leakage from your coil?  It would look like solid Ivory soap if there was.
