Motorcycle Repair: electrical problem with honda 1976 cb550 f, cafe bikes, clymer manual

Question
hey, I just bought a 76 cb550 f, and im trying to repair and get it back on the road, the problem is, when i turn the key to the on position, the fuse all the way to the right burns out a split second later. I have no idea where the short might be at all,  or what that one fuse protects. I took off the headlight and looked around as much as i could to see what i could find, but there are a ton of wires and i cant figure it out, and dont see anything that looks like its the short. Any suggustions? thanks!

Answer
Sounds like u have a "hot 2 ground" short.  I would strongly suggest purchasing the "Haynes" or "Clymer" manual on your bike as it will benefit you more and more along your restoration journey.  They r fun as all hell to work on, but most "Cafe" bikes r electrical nightmares!  Remember, your battery "Neg -" is attached directly 2 the frame, which in turn means that your entire bike is a ground.
