Motorcycle Repair: Harley ticking valvetrain, exhaust leaks, roller rockers

Question
I have an 02 FLHRI with a big bore kit, TW26a cams, AMS heads with 20k miles. Earlier this year I replaced the stock heads with a set from AMS. These are Harely heads that have been ported. AMS replaces the seals with Viton stem seals, pressure tests, etc. For the first few thousand miles the valvetrain was quiet. Then a tick developed, very metallic sounding. After determining that one of the lifters collapsed my mechanic replaced the lifters with AMS lifters and installed the Baisley (Latus Motor Racing) spring. I also have SE pushrods. The ticking was greatly reduced maybe by 50%. This ticking occurs after the bike has warmed up. Assuming that the pushrods are correclty adjusted and not rubbing, there are no exhaust leaks, the primary chain is adjusted correctly and there aren't any loose items like heat shields, What else could be causing this tick? I must add that my mechanic discovered that the hot idle was low maybe 800-850 rpms. The hot idle has now been adjusted correctly.

Answer
Harleys have been plauged with ticking in the valve train for years. It is the valve lash in the valve train. It doenst hurt anything, unless a lifter collapes, its just bothersome. You can change to Jims lifters which are quiet as well as going with roller rockers which will help
Good luck and happy riding
