Motorcycle Repair: Bending Motocross Pipe ( FMF SST), kx85, shively

Question
I don't know if you can help me but with the responses I have seen, it's worth a try. First off I am riding a 2003 KX85 and running a Pro Circut pipe. I recently bought a new FMF SST pipe and it will not fit. I have tried almost everything. I have come to the conclusion that my frame is a little bent and will only fit the current pipe. I was thinking I could bend the new pipe to make it fit, possibly with a blow tortch. I would really appreciate a response of how you would go about fixing this issue. Thanks a  ton.

Answer
Hi Brian,

I don't recommend fabrication for the non-experienced. Tweaking the pipe as intended may not produce the fit you may expect and may ruin the pipe.

However, depending upon your experience, skills, and equipment you may be able to tweak the pipe accordingly to fit.

Cutting and adding material to the pipe may be the key for best fit. I'd need to inspect the work to know. Check with a local fabricator (machinist) and get his/her opinion.

Respectfully,
