Motorcycle Repair: exhaust leak, head pipes, decel

Question
What is rhe best way to check for an exhaust leak on a '04 Road King Classic with stock head pipes?  I'm getting popping on decel, and want to elimate all possibilites before messing with the Power Commander.

Your best bet is to first put your hand around the exhaust pipe and see if you feel air blowing out. You can also look fot he tell tale signs of the area turning black with soot around the area of where you suspect the leak is.
