Motorcycle Repair: 82 cm 450e, keyster carb kits, air jets

Question
I have an 82 cm 450 and i recently cleaned carbs.Put carbs back in started the engine to discover the thing is running extremely rich.Cleaned carbs again 2 times paying close attention to air jets, float needle and air box/filter obstructions.Every thing seems normal there. The rubber plugs over the pilot jets could this be the problem? If so where can you get the individual plugs. Honda offers the gasket set for 40 bucks per carb.OUCH! Any help appreciated.

Answer
Terry, on some of the carbs back then, the primary and secondary main jets could be intermixed with the type of symptom you are experiencing. I'm not sure if that is a possibility or not for your carb set.

Make sure that the needle jet is still in the carb body, but I suppose you would have noticed extra parts lying around. Make sure that the accelerator pum diaphragm isn't damaged and leaking internally.

The rubber plugs are not offered separately, as far as I know. Check with sellers of the KEYSTER carb kits and see if those parts are offered in their rebuild kits, which are generally about $15-20 for a whole repair kit.
