Motorcycle Repair: SHIFTER SHAFT SPRING, clutch basket, sprocket

Question
We have a 1991 FLHTC and the shifter spring just broke other than taking it to the shop how do you replace it?

Answer
You have to remove the primary cover, clutch basket, motor sprocket and inner primary to get to it. You also have to unbolt the starter and take the top cover off the trans. You will probably also have to remove the exhaust. If you are planning on doing hte work yourself, I suggest getting a servie manual. You will find in it how to do the work
