Motorcycle Repair: Simplest way to increase torque., eglide, remapping

Question
Just so I understand, adding these pipes makes it leaner (which I guess is not a good thing) so is it the remapping that offsets it becoming leaner?

Question -
Regarding a 2006 EGlide Classic, I was told adding slip-ons (part # 80463-06) alone with absolutely no other changes, would allow for an increase in torque in the area of 8 ft lbs with no need for remapping.
Your thoughts, please.

Answer -
Your bike came from the factory lean to pass EPA standards. Changing the mufflers will make it even leaner. So, yes you need to  remapp. remapping will also increase the torque.
As to the increase of 8 ft lbs. I think that is a little much increase with just mufflers. I would say you should get about 2-4

Answer
On gas motors there is a fine line between lean and rich. Leaner runs hotter and uses less gas, hence less exhaust emmisions. richer runs the other way.
Lean is hard on the motor and does not give you the performance.
Your bike comes with a computer or its called an EMC. It get information from different sensors on the bike. the problem is when you make changes ( mufflers, cams, hi-flow air box and so on) the EMC does not kinow you made changes so it still functions the same.
remapping changes the settings on the EMC so that you richen the bike back up to where its suppose to be for the motor to run correctly.
Good luck and happy riding
