Motorcycle Repair: overheating with oil leak, cylinder head bolts, honda cb400t

Question
I have a 1981 honda cb400t with 35km on it.It runs ok when cool for half an hour, but then gets very hot and begins to leak oil from between the two cylinders where the cylinder head bolts are (left side where the bolt has a plastic bushing). At idle the oil light comes on at this time. I changed the gasket, but it didn't help.

Answer
Hi Brian,

I suspect a problem with assembly and/or defective parts. A cylinder compression test and leak-down test may indicate and locate possible engine damages.

For best results, I recommend having a local Honda tech inspect the problem(s) for you.
