Question
Subject   MC wont start

Question   i ride my 1998 bike every year never ever had a problem. i went out to garage this year, and nothin. battery is great, full charge. emergency on/off button is to the on position, push starter
button, nothin, so i check fuses, switch, kick stand saftey switch. nothin, so im think let me move it a little maybe things r stuck or seized, or starter it a flat spot, well i cant move it in first, so im thinkin ill put it in 5th and move it, well it wont go into 2nd. Again, when i put this bike away last year everything was perfect.
I must say it has been a very wet wet year, so could things b a little stuck so to speak,i did check for bad connections /corrosion.
i was tnking about push starting it, but if it doesnt work im out of luck,
so if you have any ideas please let me know.
thanks again

Answer
Hi Sue,

You have a 1988 bike. Unknown brand or model.

Remove the spark plugs and inspect them. Clean or replace the sparks accordingly.

If you suspect something is seized, add a teaspoon of oil to the cylinders. Sometimes rings bond to the cylinder walls and valves bond to valve seats.

With the motorcycle on it's center stand (if it has a center stand) try placing the transmission in gear. Try rotating the rear wheel slowly while shifting to help get the transmission into higher gears.

Look for damages to wiring caused by rodents.

Look for loose or disconnected electrical connections and connectors.

Check the main fuse and fuse box.
