Motorcycle Repair: Carb problems, stock carb, float bowl

I have a 95 FXDWG that I painted myself.  The problem is that I didn't get all the debris (from sandblasting) out of the tank.  Now I have messed up both my S&S Super E and my stock carb.  I know NOTHING about carbs.  What can I do, I was told the float was probably stuck.  But I am lost.  Again I know nothing like how to get to the float or what to do about it.  Any help would be great.

Take the carb and turn it over. Under it you will see some bolts. remove them and the float bowl will come off. Inside you will see the float. The float has a pin that holds it in. Slide the pin out and clean around the inlet
