Motorcycle Repair: CB350 Clutch cable problem, clutch mechanism, clutch cable

Question
Hey Falcon,  I just replaced the clutch cable on my 1972 CB350 Twin.  I took the whole dang thing apart including the entire clutch mechanism(with the 3 ball bearings and the one that presses against the clutch push rod).  I put it all back together correctly and now its nearly impossible to pull the clutch lever, it works but its VERY hard.  I've been fooling with the nut and the slotted bolt on that sticks out of the cover with no luck.

ALSO, when I do pull the clutch in, it pushes forward just fine, but when I try to kick it, it rolls forward as if in gear.

Answer
Hi Joseph.

It is possible that you have a bent or broken clutch pushrod.  You could also have the clutch itself misadjusted a bit as well.

As far as the bike wanting to roll forward, if the idle drops when you have the brakes applied while in gear, then it is definitely a misadjusted clutch or a bent/broken clutch pushrod.

Good luck and ride safe.
