Motorcycle Repair: Sportster Sport fork tubes, fork tubes, triple trees

Question
Mike,

I have a 2002 XL1200S with a stock suspension. I am considering changing the triple tree out for one with a rake of 5 degrees and replacing the stock for tubes for a set of 5" or 6" over stock, given the speicality of the interior components, is it even possible much less advisable or would I simply do better by starting all over with another front end? Second to that, since the shocks have that extra resevoir on them is it going to hurt anything if I reverse sides with them and put the resevoir facing forward allowing me the space for a set of saddle bag wire shields for a set of throw overs?
 Thanks,

Mike

Answer
It would be cheaper to change just the triple trees and the fork tubes. In order to do that you hve to add spacers to the inside against the springs.
I dont know why you cant reverse the resevoir. I have never done this or know of anybody that has, but i dont htink it would be a problem
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
