Motorcycle Repair: 1995 VT1100C2 SHADOW ACE CLUTCH, shadow ace, creative problem

I am a new bike owner after being out of it for several years and purchased a 1995 Shadow Ace VT1100C2. The bike has 20k on it and runs great. After cleaning it I found a few minor problems. One of them was the clutch handle bracket was cracked and the mirror was loose. This seem like an easy fix and I purchased a bracket from Honda and installed it with ease. The only problem tho was that the clutch will not disengage now. I was carefull to not mes with the tolerances and since have revied my manual and should have .40-.80 travel. Is there something I am missing here? Changing a clutch handle bracket shouldn't have created this problem. I had just finished riding the bike before I changed it wit hno problems.
What are your thoughts?

Hi Steve.

Is the new bracket identical to the original?  If not, then you will need to do a bit of creative problem solving on your own.

Perhaps the cable needs to be adjusted at both ends.  It may need to be adjusted due to the new bracket.

Outside of that, there is no other reason that I can think of that you should have this problem.
