Motorcycle Repair: timing 1979 shovelhead, timing light, test light

I do not have a manual and need to know how to set points and timing, both static and dynamic

Answer
To set the points, find the high spot on the lobe and set the points at .018
To set the timing. rotate the motor to TDC. Using a test light at the points, rotate the timing plate just until the light goes on. Start the bike and using a timing light, locate the line on the flywheel by moving the timing plate. The hole you use is located on the left side of the bike on the case.
