Motorcycle Repair: SPARK IGNITION, honda magna 750, spark plug gap

Question
my son just purchased a very used 1982 honda magna 750.  He was riding it around for a couple of hours when it died and refused to restart.   Have begun to try to determine if it is fuel or electircal.   I suspect it is electircal.  My question is how bright should the spark be?  Is it possible to get a week spark and if so any idea what I should investigate next.  I AM getting a blue spark that appears to be week.

Answer
Hi David,

A blue arc at the spark plug gap is a helathy arc. The voltage required to produce a blue arc indicates the system is working well.

The size of the arc is not important considering the air-fuel mixture is atomized.

Get a copy of the Service (repair) Manual and learn about troubleshooting the problem. There's too much to explain for me to text here.

Many public libraries have repair manuals. My library doesn't mind if the manual is returned greasy.

I return tech information files by email. There was no email address with your question as requested and explained in my instructions.

Respectfully,
