Motorcycle Repair: Yamaha FZ750 Ignitor box, logical step, fuel pump

Question
The bike will run well on ocasion with good throtle response. The problem is even though I have spark, fuel and compression it will not start and run at the moment. The pickup coils have 155ohm resistance, the coils are testing good, the fuel pump works, the battery is new but I have no way to check the ignition box.The bike will start and run well sometimes and then when you turn it off it may not restart. HELP! Thank you. Fred

Answer
Hi Fred.

Before you go out and buy an expensive part for the bike, check the wiring and connections, fuses, etc. for the affected circuits.
Normally, if it is the CDI then the bike will tend to die on you while riding.  You did not describe that as happening, so I am leaning toward something else as more likely.

If, however, everything else checks out good and correct, then the CDI is the next logical step.

Good luck and ride safe.
