Motorcycle Repair: older Honda electrical, cb 450, cb 500

Question
Chris, I am getting a 1971 cb 450 twin honda back on the road.  I replaced the coils as the old ones tested bad.  On start up only the R side got spark.  I redid the leads from the points(new points and condenser as well) then charged the bike.  Got spark on both sides with good idle at 900rpm.  left bike 2 days, this morning only got spark on L side, What is going on?  I had heard from a guy with a cb 500 4 cylinder that if the battery is low sometimes you will lose spark like that?  Oh, the battery is brand new as well.

Answer
Hi Andrew.

With those old bikes, there is always the possibility of shorts in the wiring, dirty connections and bad fuses/fuse connections.

Check all of those circuits and see what you find.

Let me know if you get the old girl fully ressurected.
Good luck and ride safe.
