Motorcycle Repair: CV Carb flooding my Sportster, engine crankcase, cv carb

Question
I just replaced my Kehein with a rebuilt CV Carb from an EVO I forgot to close the petcock and it flooded the engine, crankcase, and oil tank with fuel, I used to be able to leave my petcock open on the Kehein why does this Carb flood my engine and I know that I should close the petcock. When I drain all the fluids from the bike will the fuel contamination cause anything to fail once I replace the fluids god I hope not!? Thank you for your help.

Answer
The float is probably sticking or is not set right and thats why the carb flodded. Also the needle and seat might be bad in it.
As to the gas in the oil. I would replace the oil at least three times to get all the gas out. Start the bike and let it get warm and then drain as well as change the oil filter
Good luck and happy riding
