Motorcycle Repair: exhaust gasket leak test, exhaust gasket, leak test

Hi Mike,

In order to prove whether I have an exhaust gasket leak, is it a legit test to spray gumout or other cleaner near the exhaust gasket, and if I see/hear a difference in engine behavior, then I can assume that the gasket(s) are leaking?

Spraying gumout around the exhaust will not do a thing. The engine will not change, due to the fact that the motor will not suck it in. Start the bike and run a lit match around the exhaust. You will see the leak if its leaking
