Motorcycle Repair: Brake light, brake light switch, brake switch

Question
I have a 2001 883 spotster I just recently purchased. it has 700 miles on it. I just completed adding fwd controls and changing handle bars and extending the wires. I have checked and everything works correctly except the brake light, the tail light works. the front brake switch is compressed. Is it possible that something came loose when I changed out the stock controls to fwd controls ? I did not disconnect the rear master cylinder.
Thanks,
Donna.

Answer
To check to see if its the front or rear master cylinder, first unplug the wires fromt he rear brake light switch and turn the bike on. If the lights go off then you know its the rear switch. If it stays on then it the front switch. Now you need to check your wiring. You probably have a short going to the light.
Good luck and happy riding.
