Motorcycle Repair: 72 Honda CB350 problem, honda cb350, oil filters

Question
I bought a 72 Honda CB350 the other day that had been sitting for
many years. The prior owners did some work (changed plugs, oil,
filters, etc.) to get it running and it runs great for a few minutes but
then starts loosing power and stalling and finally won't start. After
sitting for an hour or so, it will start up again. The last time the
bike was ridden was in Colorado (and now it's in Oregon). Could
the difference in altitude be causing problems. What would you
recommend?

Thanks Chris

Answer
Hi Asa.

Did they properly clean the carbs?  If not, then that is the likeliest cause of the problem along with continued contamination from a tank that was not resealed to seal out the varnish in the tank.

Have you checked the plugs to see if it is running normal, rich or lean?  There could be other issues as well, but check those and see what you find.

Good luck and ride safe.
