Motorcycle Repair: push rod seal, rod seal, engine details

Question
I lost my chain on my 03' GSXR 1000 and it broke my clutch push rod and damaged that seal. The seal space is visable once you have the spocket engine cover off, and 3/4's of its circular outside edge,, is like case inclosed i removed it from the outside but not sure how to get the new one in without damageing it... please help me

Answer
Hi Stan.

99 times out of a hundred, those seals are press-fit in place.  The exact proceedure tends to change from bike to bike.

Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with the internal engine details of the GSXR, so I must refer you to the repair manual, which will have the detailed proceedures for replacement of the seal.

I can tell you this much; when press-fitting a part like that in place, you will normally need a few special items, like a small block of wood and a hammer to put the seal in properly.

Sorry that I cannot help further.
Good luck and ride safe.
