Motorcycle Repair: 2005 harley 103 starters, torque starter, plug holes


Question
io am having trouble with my harley stock starter with the clutch not working and its two weeks since it was in for warranty
does harley make a better starter or should i use an after market one
sreaming eagle kit 103 on a full dresser with no compression releases the kit is from harley and installed by the dealer
i also understand it should rev out to 6200 and this is not the case
recomendations pls and i cant do the releases till next winter

Answer
Your trying to turn over alot of motor with a stock starter. You can go two different routes. Install a high torque starter or add compression releases. Spyke makes compression releases that can be installed in the spark plug holes so you dont have to drill.
As to the revs. You would have to get the dealer to change the EMC to raise it.
