Motorcycle Repair: honda magna v45, v45 magna, honda magna

Question
Hi Chris,

I just cleaned my carburators and installed them back in my 1983 v45 magna. After starting the bike it ran fine but the idle does not come down right away. It slow to idle down. When road testing the bike the rpm's stay up in between shifing gear's. Any help would be nice.

Answer
Hi Ron.

It is possible that the carbs are out of synch, the idle could be set a little high, or the needle valves in the throttle bodies could be sticking.

Visually check the movement of the external mechanism, double check your idle speed and check the carb synch.

If all of those are correct, then check the timing.  It could be slightly advanced.

Start with those and see what you find.
Good luck and ride safe.
