Question
How is it you are so smart yet in your reply to john with the 1983 yz490 fuel/oil ratio question you told him that 24:1 isnt a "big" ratio, im guessing by "big" you mean rich, and that you have seen ridden bikes use 50:1, also to check his valves about the oil leaking out the exhaust port problem? First 24:1 is richer than 50:1, the first number tells how many parts fuel, and the second number tells how many parts oil 50:1 being twice as lean(that means less oil and more fuel) than 24:1. Second its a fuckin 83 490 2-STROKE the only valves it has is the reed valve that wouldnt have anything to do with excess oil coming out the exhaust port, even if it had valves whether or not they were closing all the way also has nothing to do with the oil problem,it would be the valve guides or stem seals you would want to check!  John if you read this mix that fuel 40:1 or if you are skeptic dont mix any richer than 32:1,check your spark and spark plug to make sure of cleanliness and pretty blue spark, also check your jetting and needle in your carb if thats all good and your mix is leaner than your bike will not only run better and have more power, it should stop leaking all that unburned oil and fuel, providing rings are good! One more thing falcon, the premix is the crankcase lube, havent you ever been inside a 2-stroke motorcycle engine, why do you think you mix oil into the fuel.

Answer
I went through all of MY questions and answers regarding 2-stroke mixtures and I do not have any idea as to what question that you are referencing, since I have not answered any question regarding a YZ490.

Also, I have never told anyone that 24:1 is even remotely close to an acceptable mixture ratio.  All of the 2-strokes that I have ever seen are a 50:1 mix.

If you are posting just to bust my chops, then perhaps you need to be sure that who you are busting is the person who actually made the error.

In addition, ALL internal combustion engines have both intake and exhaust valves.

Perhaps you are confusing me with another person on this site.

Ride safe.
