Motorcycle Repair: Key wont turn to ignition, honda cbr, battery problem

Last time I started the bike (04 Honda CBR F4i) I had a feeling that the gas may be going bad, since it had been in a moving truck for a couple weeks, but it started just fine. Exhaust smelled a little funny tho. This time the key will turn to 'ON' but not all the way to 'ignition'. The first try, the Red FI light came on then faded. Seems like a battery problem compounded by bad fuel still in the tank. What can I do? Don't know much about the mechanics of the bike..so if you could make it as lament as possible that would be great!

This is not a battery problem.  The fact that the switch will not go into ignition, is indicative of a mechanical issue with the switch.

You may need to replace it, but that is an unusual problem since switches tend to not go bad on bikes that new.

You may want to get the bike into a shop for this issue if you are not that mechanically inclined.
