Motorcycle Repair: brakelight, brake light switch, using a multimeter

Chris my brake lights are staying on all the time we noticed after a ride my buddy said that my back lights seamed pretty bright so we checked it out and they are staying on we checked everything out and cant find the problem..my bike is a 2002 honda shadow sprit 1100

Hi Rafael.

There are only 2 reasons that the brake light should stay on.  They are;

1) A brake light switch is sticking or stuck.

2) A hot short in the wiring to the brake light circuit.

Check those using a multimeter, but my money is on a brake light switch.
