Hi Mark,
I have a 1983 Honda Shadow 750 that will only run if the starter button is pushed and quits the second you let off the starter button. It ran fine last year but on startup this year after the winter it began doing this. Any ideas?

A:  Sorry, but I have to ask: Do you mean the "engine" or "starter motor" starts and runs with the starter button depressed?

This problem is rare if not impossible without other problems present. Please provide more thorough details. Describe anything you may hear when starting the engine. Describe exactly what happens. I'm not there to experience the problems.

Avoid using the starter motor longer than 15 seconds to prevent the motor from overheating and burning the windings.
