Motorcycle Repair: electrical problem, honda vtr1000, harley someday

Question
Hey Mike, I know you only want Harley questions but I'm kind of in a pinch. If you can help at all it would be greatly appreciated.

The bike-98 Honda vtr1000

The problem- Bike was running fine, all of a sudden EVERYTHING went dead. 30 amp main fuse blown.(all other fuses are fine) Put in a new one, as soon as I push the connector together POP. Disconnect battery put in fuse, as soon as I connect the battery POP.
I've tried different batteries so that's not the problem.
I've never had any problems whatsoever with this bike before.
Any ideas on what the problem might be or where to start looking would be a huge help.
Sorry if I'm out of line posting a Honda question ( I want a Harley someday, if that helps :)

Answer
Your problem is you have a short in the system. What your going to have to do is get a test light and start following the wire from the fuse through the system until you find the short. You probably have a bare wire touching hte frame of some metal and blowing the fuse.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
