Motorcycle Repair: superhawk clutch noise, honda superhawk, clutch lever

Question
I just bought a 98 honda superhawk. there is a knocking sound in the lower end that quits when I pull in the clutch lever, what is the cause of this and should i fix it? Also it sometimes pops when just coming of idle (not when grabbing a handfull of throttle) any help would be greatly appritiated. Thanks Wes wesbraham@netzero.net      p.s.15000 miles

Answer
Hi Wes,

Q:  "...I just bought a 98 honda superhawk. there is a knocking sound in the lower end that quits when I pull in the clutch lever, what is the cause of this and should i fix it?"

A:  I suspect a problem with the clutch assembly. An exact cause is to be determined by inspecting the assy.

Yes, you should fix it.

Q:  "...Also it sometimes pops when just coming of idle."

A:  This is a carburetor tuning issue.
