Motorcycle Repair: 1975 honda 360T Ignition points arcing, honda 360t, side muffler

Hi Mark:
 I'm still working on my 360T. The right side of the points set is arcing while the engine is running. It starts right up, but then then will sputter and miss a little out the left side muffler. Wouldn't the right side points set affect the right side cylinder? I have a new points set on order and will be installing them soon. I have eliminated the coils as the problem, installed new spark plugs, cleaned the carbs, and installed new muffler gaskets and the problem continues. The only thing I have not done is adjust the valves for fear I'll screw it up. If replacing the points and retiming the engine dosen't help, can you suggest anything else for me to try?
