Motorcycle Repair: spark plug gap, honda cl 175, plug gap

Question
My husband is working on a Honda CL 175 and he would like to know what the gap should be on the spark plug.  Hope you can help!  Thanks so much!

Answer
Carolyn, the plugs are pre-gapped from the factory and should be correct, as they are. Specified gap is .024"-.028".

Tell him to check the function of the spark advancer, behind the point plate, then set point gap to .012"-.016" on the high spot on the point cam, then set the point plate so the points open at the F mark alignment.

If he removed the carburetors or is cleaning them, be sure to put the slides back in the correct side. There are L & R side slides and the cutaway goes to the air filters...

Be sure battery is fully charged, as this is a battery operated ignition system.
