Motorcycle Repair: honda v65 1984, honda v65, electrical breakdown

When in 1 and 2 gear the motor is not responding ,it acts like electrical breakdown. When in netural its fine takes gas all the way up to red line thanks

Hi Tom.

Here's three things to check;

1) Clean the fuel system.  If the bike has spent any time in seasonal storage, the carbs will need cleaning.

2) How long has it been since the last tune-up?  If the bike is at or beyond 40,000 miles, then it could be due for it's 50,000 mile tune up.  The timing and valves could be way off.

3) When was the last time that the carbs were synchronized?  If it has been more than a year, then get it done.

Start with those and let me know what you find.
