Question
i just bought one chris.it runs like crap.i was told the 4carbs need to be synchronized.i haven't done anything yet.what do you recommend i do first, besides find a manual.i figure to change plugs, oil, and need to find the fuel filter/s.i figure the carbs must be done at honda. i want to eliminate anything else because of a limited budget.the bike has a hinds exhaust that the guy put on.what is your opinion?   thanks very much,...jim

Answer
Hi Jim.

Well, getting the repair manual is what I would have recommended first, but since you already thought of that, i won't mention it. :)

As far as the fuel filter, the fuel filter that comes with every bike is a microfilter built into the vuel valve and protudes into the tank.

The carbs; Yes, clean them properly and get them synchronized.

Plugs and oil; Also good idea to change them.

The exhaust system; Not sure about the Hines.  If it was a factory aftermarket, then it is fine.  Most likely, there will be no concerns about it at all.

What you may want to do is to reseal the tank as well.

Other than that, it sounds like you have a good handle on things.

Good luck and ride safe.
